- Electric power stations

            This sphere of bachelor’s training is unique not only in Kirov, there is nothing similar at higher educational institutions in the neighboring regions. The bachelor’s curriculum for “Electric power stations”includes studying general high-voltage equipment of electric power stations and substations: generators, transformers, switching devices, instrument transformers, current-limiting reactors, surge suppressors and others. Much attention is given to operation modes of generators, transformers, electric motors and their diagnostics techniques.

            In the course of studies students master various information search engines, learn about operational standards, get skills of designing electric circuits for different purposes. They also learn how to use standard programs (for calculation of short-circuit currents, heat impulse, earthing loop and others), master methods of designing distribution devices (outdoor, indoor and complete).

 

- Relay protection and automation of electric power systems

 

            Protection engineers are treated with special respect at the operating electric power stations. Unlike the “Electric power stations” profile, they must know modern instruments, secondary circuits: snap-acting, signal, emergency lighting and dc circuits. They run apparatus automatic control systems (ACS), automatic systems of electricity commercial count and others.
